Zamia Fururacea is an evergreen, rigid, small perennial cycad. A gymnosperm. The trunk is subterranean and the plant becomes multi-trunked with clumping stems that reach up to 20cm above ground. A tough plant. Foliage is in the shape of a rosette. In shade, the plant will be more horizontal and therefore lower with a wider spread and when grown in bright sunlight the rosette becomes more upright and narrower, developing an I-1.5m high clump of tightly overlapping leaves that will slowly grow to 1.8m across.
Slow growing when young, faster-growing once the trunk has developed and will then develop I 0 to 12 leaves each year. The trunk is noted as growing 60-1OOcm in diameter on a mature specimen.
