A fairly small, erect shrub, Leaves are leathery, firm, green, oblong. Flowers are waxy, tubular with spreading lobes, scarlet or reddish-orange in dense clusters. Blooms almost continuously. Varieties with white, red, pink, yellow, also exist. Fruits are small berries. Suitable for beds, grouping planting or as a specimen plant. Requires well-drained soil, partial shade and regular watering. Flowers are stimulated by the removal of old and dead flowers.
