Tamarindus indica is an evergreen, drought, deciduous, flowering, large perennial tree, with a wide-spreading dense symmetrical canopy and short stout. Straight trunk with pendulous branches. Has a strong natural branch system. Grows 10-15m tall with a spread of 8m.
Noted as reaching 24-30m tall with a 12m spread and a 2m diameter trunk in its native habitat with food production of 150-200kg per tree. Once it reaches 20 years ago. Not partially fast growing reaching approximately 2m after the first five years depending on its situation. Faster growing thereafter at a rate of 30-80cm p/a.
