Azadirachta indica is semi-evergreen, flowering, small to medium, perennial tree with a dense, bushy, rounded canopy and a straight trunk. The bark is red-brown to grey. Leaves are pinnate, bunched at the end of the branches. Leaflets are oblong, lanceolate, with serrate margins, dark green. Flowers are small, panicle, white, scented, appearing in late autumn through mid-summer.
The fruit is drupe, pale yellow to purple-brown when ripe. Grows 8-10m tall with a 5-7m spread and a 1.2m diameter. Initially fast-growing, reaching 2-3 tall in three to five years.
