Pandanus tectorius is an evergreen, flowering, erect and spreading, perennial shrub or small tree with a large rosette of arching leaves, stilt roots and a strong or small suckering habit. Often multi-stemmed. Grows to 5m tall with a 3m spread in good conditions.
Noted as reaching 15-18m tall with a spread of 18m and a 10-25cm trunk diameter in its native habitat. Medium to fast-growing, at a rate of 3-80cm p/a.
