Lagerstroemia speciose is an evergreen, cold deciduous, flowering perennial with an erect habit, a symmetrical crown and regular outline and with the branches drooping with age. Grows 8-10m tall with a 5-8m spread.
Noted as reaching 24m tall in its native habitat. Fast-growing at 60cm -1m p/a for the first 3 years, then slowing to a medium growth rate of between 30-60cm-1m p/a for the first 3 years, the slowing to a medium growth rate of between 30-60cm p/a once established.
