Erythrina Indica is a fast-growing deciduous tree, often with dense foliage. Branches and stems are armed with thorns that disappear as the wood matures. Leaves are trifoliate with pointed tails, green in color with showy yellow veins. Flowers are bright yellow-orange firm and scentless in long stalked clusters at ends of branches.
This tree has a somewhat bushier more symmetrical habit than other Erythrinas. Grows 10-15m tall reaching 25m tall with an almost equal spread with a 702cm diameter trunk in its native habitat. Fast-growing at a rate of around 1.5m p/a. This is also known as Erythrina Indica picta and Erythrina variegata.
