Casuarina Equisetifolia is an evergreen flowering medium to a large perennial tree. The tree is erect and slender and looks like a pine tree with its pyramidal habit and with branches that tend to be more pendulous and delicate than Casuarina cunninghamiana. The flowers are produced in small catkin-like inflorescences. The fruit is an oval woody structure. The Casuarina leaves are usually used for ornamental purposes in the urban region.
It Grows to 20m tall with a 6m spread and a trunk diameter of 45-70cm. Fast-growing in the first seven years at a rate of 1.5- 2.5m and a diameter of 9-12mm p/a slowing thereafter.
