Morus Nigra is a semievergreen, flowering, erect, large perennial tree with a dense, slightly pendulous canopy and a gnarled trunk when mature. Flowering takes place from March through to June. The fruit is multiple fruit and red to black in colour. Grows about 5-6m tall with an equal spread. Noted as reaching 10-12m tall with an equal spread.
Noted as reaching 10-12m tall with a 15m spread and a 15-30cm trunk diameter in its native habitat. Initially fast growing to 43 tall in 3-5 years, then slowing down to a slow to medium growth rate. Noted as living to 500 years in its native habitat. The older the tree, the more irregular and individual the tree becomes.
